The Mini Mag

Volume 1 Number 1 March 1999.

The President's first report.

My name is Glen Carpenter and as your new President I would like to give you a little background on myself.

I became interested in minis and 1100’s in the early seventies. It all started when I purchased a 1968 Morris 1100 in 1970. Due to the ever increasing repairs necessary, (“Was it built on a Friday Nairn?”) I became proficient at engine, gearbox and suspension repairs.

I rallied the 1100 and it broke as usual. I then rescued two mini coopers from “Don’t Walk Cars” and these were successfully used and me on my life of minis.

My intention as President is to arrange Show & Shines, Swap Meets, Day and Night Runs, Motorkhanas, Lap Dashes and anything else that you desire. The interchange of information from people of the calibre of Mark Paget, Naim Hindhaugh and David McGregor and the many other members is a valuable commodity.

The electronic age in which we now live, has seen us already on the Internet. In the near future I hope that we can use it to display the many cars of the members and servicing information on the web pages. Thanks to Bob York and Rob Watson for their efforts in getting it up and running.

Perhaps the best thing in a club is to arrange social outings for our members to take their cars and family to non automotive places, such as Rudds Pub at Nobby, where “Dad n Dave” was written.

There is so much to do and with the executives and committee that we have I can assure you that you the members are in good hands.

Yours in minis.
Glen.
